I haven’t tried this thing yet because I don’t want to freak any of my friends out by asking for their constant location. I will give it a try though because it does say you can toggle the service on and off.
What is it Google Latitude, Social networking taking to the next eerie level. Currently we tweet, My Space, Facebook, Chat, IM, Text, E-mail and even call (this seems to be a last resort) to stay in touch. What would it be like if you were out drinking at your favorite spot and your friends just started showing up without you even calling? They just start filing in the door one at time. You then start to get a little wierded out so you pull out your phone and see that more are in rout to your location.
I suppose this would eliminate calling your buddy to see if he is on his way and when he will be arriving. I can just pull my phone out and watch you make your merry little way to my location. I guess if I am getting out of some meeting and I want to see where everyone is I could find out in an instant. This seems like neat stuff but, it seems like it could become almost big brother.
I am going to give it a try. That is to say, I will send a couple of buddies and invite and see if anyone accepts. And if they actually accept, if they ever turn the service on. I guess if you are bored and interested in company you turn it on but, If you are as Brad Pitt (Detective Mills in Seven) would say, “Getting some Oh La La” I guess you would turn it off.
Is this thing cool or freaky?
